Hotel pans, also called steam table pans, use names such as full, half and third size. In SEEKTAY’s current range, a full-size pan measures 530 × 325 mm and a half-size pan measures 325 × 265 mm. The range includes depths of 20 / 40 / 65 / 100 / 150 / 200 mm, with available combinations confirmed for each SKU.

For North American distributors and private-label buyers, the next step is to pair each size with a depth, specification and order quantity. Canadian buyers may also encounter the terms steam table insert or bain marie insert; include the actual dimensions when using those names in an inquiry.

Hotel Pan Size Chart

This chart covers SEEKTAY’s American-Style Hotel & Steam Table Pans (Smooth-Sidewall Series). The dimensions describe this product range, not a universal North American sizing standard.

Hotel pan size Fraction Outside dimensions Common application context
Full 1/1 530 × 325 mm Main entrees
Half 1/2 325 × 265 mm Side dishes and proteins
Two-Thirds 2/3 354 × 325 mm Buffet lines
Third 1/3 325 × 176 mm Toppings and sauces
Quarter 1/4 265 × 162 mm Condiments and salad dressings
Sixth 1/6 176 × 162 mm Garnishes and sandwich preparation
Ninth 1/9 176 × 108 mm Specialty ingredients, spices and herbs

Available combinations vary by size, depth, material, thickness and construction. Please request the current specification list.

Application examples help organize an assortment; they do not specify capacity, serving count or suitability for a particular operating condition. Select the depth and check the equipment separately.

When matching a full size hotel pan, a half hotel pan or another fractional size to an existing product, provide its outside dimensions. A matching name alone does not establish equipment fit.

Choosing Hotel Pan Depths

The current range includes these depth options:

20 / 40 / 65 / 100 / 150 / 200 mm

Side-view comparison of 20, 40, 65, 100, 150 and 200 mm hotel pan depths, with orange depth markers
Depths are shown at a common vertical scale. Profiles are illustrative, not engineering drawings; available size and depth combinations are confirmed per SKU.

Choose depth for each line item. A distributor may need several depths within the same footprint, while an equipment replacement order may require one specific depth.

For each requested pan, check:

  • Equipment clearance: the available space below the opening and around the pan body.
  • Lids and accessories: whether the required lid or handle configuration affects the space needed.
  • Assortment requirements: which depth your customer needs for each size, rather than listing only “assorted depths.”

Keep the original measurement unit in the request. If a customer specifies a depth in inches, include that requirement and ask for the corresponding specification; do not silently substitute the nearest listed millimeter depth.

If the order requires a particular capacity or serving count, state it as a requirement for review. A size name and depth are not a verified capacity figure.

Using Fractional Sizes to Plan an Assortment

Names such as 1/1, 1/2 and 1/3 help buyers describe the portions of a full-size layout they want to arrange. For a proposed mixed-pan layout, identify each position by its fraction and depth, and provide the equipment opening or layout drawing.

The fractions describe the layout concept. The actual pans, rims, supports and equipment still need to be checked together before the arrangement is accepted.

Four separate top-view layout concepts: a full pan, two halves, three thirds, and two-thirds plus one-third
Layout concepts only, not dimensional drawings or confirmed equipment arrangements. Check actual pans, rims and supports together.

For catalog planning, group the range by fractional size, then give each requested depth and construction its own SKU line. This makes it easier to distinguish two pans with the same footprint but different purchasing specifications.

For example, the following is a clearer starting point for review than “half pan, deep”:

1/2 hotel pan — 325 × 265 mm — requested depth 100 mm

This is a request-format example, not confirmation that a complete SKU combination is available. Add material, thickness, construction and quantity before asking for a quotation.

Check Equipment Fit Before Ordering

Final fit should be confirmed by outside dimensions, rim and sidewall profile, depth, lid compatibility, and equipment opening.

Illustration based on SEEKTAY product references. The opening is schematic, not a verified fit. Check actual pan dimensions, rim, depth, lid and equipment together.

A useful fit-review request includes:

  • the pan’s outside length and width, with depth recorded separately;
  • a drawing or clear reference showing the rim and sidewall profile;
  • the equipment opening and available clearance;
  • any existing lid that must be reused;
  • an equipment model, drawing or reference sample when fit is critical.

Keep pan measurements and equipment-opening measurements clearly labeled. They describe different parts of the fit check. If a measurement is approximate, say so rather than presenting it as a final specification.

SEEKTAY uses European-style and American-style to distinguish its current two food-pan ranges. These labels do not establish universal standards or automatic interchangeability. For the separate GN range, see the Gastronorm size and equipment-fit guide.

Specify Material, Thickness and Construction

SS201 and SS304 are options for selected specifications only. Include the requested grade for each SKU.

The current thickness options across the range are:

0.5 / 0.7 / 0.8 / 1.0 / 1.1 / 1.2 mm

Specify thickness in millimeters. If the customer’s specification uses a gauge number, include the original requirement and request a millimeter specification for review before approving an equivalent.

Also state whether the pan should be solid or perforated, and whether a lid or handles are required. Confirm the complete combination against the current specification list.

When an attribute has not yet been selected, mark it as “please advise” in the RFQ. This gives the supplier an explicit question to answer instead of leaving a blank that could be interpreted as acceptance of any option.

Copyable Hotel Pan RFQ Template

Use the following block for each requested SKU. For a larger assortment, put the same fields into a spreadsheet with one row per item. RFQ means request for quotation.

Field Your requirement
Item / SKU reference [Your item code or line number]
Size name / fraction [Full 1/1, Half 1/2 or another requested size]
Outside dimensions [Length × width, including unit]
Depth [Requested depth and unit]
Material [Requested grade or please advise]
Thickness [Requested thickness in mm or please advise]
Pan construction [Solid or perforated]
Lid / handles [Required, not required, or details to review]
Quantity [Pieces for this SKU]

Add these details once for the inquiry; identify any differences between items:

Inquiry detail Your requirement
Destination [Delivery country and port or city]
Target market [Where the products will be sold or used]
Logo / labels / barcodes [Requirements and applicable item codes]
Packaging [Standard packaging, private-label carton, color box or pallet request]
Sample / order status [Sample review, trial order or repeat program]
Required documents [Your customer’s or destination market’s requirements]
Fit references [Drawing, equipment model or reference sample information]

These are blank request fields, not pre-approved product combinations. If requirements differ by SKU, note the item code beside the relevant packaging, branding or document request.

Document requirements should be reviewed against the available documentation for the requested product. Listing a requirement in an RFQ does not mean that it is already covered.

MOQ, Packaging and Sample Timing

The standard-item MOQ is 100 pieces per SKU. Mixed sizes and depths are accepted, subject to one full master carton per SKU. Carton quantity is confirmed per SKU, so the order mix must satisfy both the per-SKU minimum and the applicable carton quantities.

Logo, private-label packaging and new specifications have separate MOQs. State these requests alongside the affected items so they can be included in the quotation scope.

Standard export packaging includes suitable surface protection and labeled master cartons. Barcode, private-label carton, color box and pallet options are subject to MOQ and final approval.

Quotation and sampling follow the reviewed scope.

  • Stock or existing-specification samples are normally prepared within 3–5 working days after confirmation.
  • Customized samples normally require 7–15 working days after specification, artwork and sample-charge confirmation.
  • Actual timing is confirmed case by case.

These are sample-preparation periods, not arrival dates. Include any required delivery date in the inquiry so preparation and shipping can be discussed together.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is a full hotel pan in SEEKTAY’s range?

The full-size reference is 530 × 325 mm. Specify the required depth separately and confirm the rim, lid and equipment opening when matching an existing setup.

Can I reuse the same lid when I change pan suppliers?

Include the existing lid in the fit review. A matching fractional name does not confirm lid compatibility; provide its dimensions, profile or a reference sample.

Can I mix sizes in one order?

Yes, mixed sizes and depths are accepted for standard items, but every SKU must meet the 100-piece minimum and its full-master-carton condition. Request the carton quantity for each item before finalizing the mix.

What if I do not know the material or thickness yet?

Send the confirmed size, depth and equipment information, and mark the open fields as “please advise.” Ask for the proposed material and millimeter thickness to be stated in the quotation before approving the SKU.

Request the Current Hotel Pan Specification List

Review the Hotel Pan product range, then request the current specification list and a quotation with your requested sizes, depths, quantities and destination. Add branding or packaging requirements where relevant.

If the order depends on matching existing equipment, include the drawing or reference information and request a sample or fit review.
